Police arrests three gamblers in Awantipora, seizes stake money

Srinagar: The J&K Police in Awantipora have arrested three gamblers and seized stake money from their possession as well, a police spokesman said on Wednesday.
In a handout issued here, he said a police party of Police Station Pampore, acting on specific information about gambling activities, raided the specific site and arrested three gamblers on the spot.
The police have identified the accused as Mehraj Ahmad Wani son of Mohammad Shaban resident of Namblabal Pampore, Mohammad Altaf Buroo son of Mohammad Maqbool resident of Frestbal Pampore and Mohammad Ashraf Buroo son of Mohammad Maqbool resident of Dooninar Pampore.
“The officers have seized stake money of Rs 8500 and playing cards from the gamblers,” the handout reads.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 86/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pampore and investigation has been set into motion, it reads
The handout reads that persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law.
“Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units,” it reads.
