FSSA awareness programme held at Shopian

Shopian: An awareness programme regarding Food Safety and Standards Act (FS&SA) was Wednesday held among the Food Business Operators (FBOs) of the district under different initiatives of Eat Right India.
As Eat Right India Challenge-2 has been launched by FSSAI across the country it includes initiatives like FOSTAC, Hygiene Rating, Eat Right School and Eat Right Campus.
Under this programme awareness was given to the stakeholders, like the restaurant owners, hoteliers, street vendors etc. about Repurpose Used Cooking Oil (RUCO) in particular and in other programmes in general.
Repurpose Used Cooking Oil (RUCO) its misuse and ill effects were demonstrated by Assistant Commissioner Food Safety, District Shopian, Ghulam Qadir Azhar and Food Safety Officer, Shopian Mr. Hakeem Adil.
The Aggregators telephone number was also shared with the FBOs so that the used cooking oil is collected by the concerned agency approved by the department for its proper disposal.
Awareness under Food Fortification was also imparted among the participants. The same was appreciated by the food business operators, who agreed to follow all the rules and regulations under FSSAI for the sake of the health of the general public.
