LaQshya program: Distt Hospital Udhampur receives quality certification

Srinagar: The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has accorded National Certification under LaQshya program to District Hospital, Udhampur in recognition of the high standards of quality and ensuring Respectful Maternity Care in the Labour Room and Maternity OT.
The hospital was assessed by a team of highly qualified and empanelled assessors from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India (GoI) in the month of May this year.
In a letter addressed to the J&K government, the Union Additional Secretary and Mission Director NHM MoH&FW GoI have rated the hospital as Quality Certified under LaQshya program of National Health Mission (NHM).
The National Certification will be valid for a period of three years subject to annual verification of the scores by the State Quality Assurance Committee.
Hospital shall receive an additional annual grant of Rs. 6.00 lakh as part of the LaQshya certification for next three years under National Health Mission, following which there will be re-inspection.
Principal Secretary, Health & Medical Education, Manoj K. Dwivedi has congratulated the faculty for this achievement and urged all Medical Colleges, District Hospitals and CHCs to work for implementation of LaQshya standards in Labour Rooms and Maternity OTs for improving care around birth so that maternal and newborn health is further improved.
Mission Director NHM J&K Yasin M Choudhary has also congratulated the hospital and said the certification accorded to the facility is in recognition of the “high standards of quality and performance maintained by the hospital” in the Labour Room and Maternity Operation Theatre.
He urged that the other facilities across the UT, J&K should also match to the standards/Parameters set by MoHFW, so that in the coming days various health care facilities across the UT are also certified under LaQshya.
