Police arrests drug peddler in Ganderbal, Psychotropic substance recovered

Ganderbal: Police have arrested a drug peddler in Ganderbal and recovered Psychotropic substance from his possession, the police spokesman said on Friday.
He said a Police party led by in-charge Police Post Shadipora under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police headquarters Ganderbal intercepted a person at a checkpoint established near Sumbal. The accused was identified as Ashiq Ahmad Bhat son of Mohd Maqbool resident of Hilalabad, Nesbal Sumbal.
During checking, officers were able to recover 20 bottles of Codeine and 09 Spasmoproxyvon Plus strips from his possession, the police handout reads.
“He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody,” it reads.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.165/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Ganderbal and further investigation has been taken up, the police spokesman in a handout said.
“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law,” the handout reads.
