Police arrests two drug peddlers in Bla, Handwara

Srinagar: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Handwara and Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession, the official spokesman said Tuesday.
In Baramulla, a Police party of PS Tangmarg under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg Hilal Khaliq intercepted a person identified as Tahir Bashir Khan son of Bashir Ahmad Khan resident of Check Ferozpora Tangmarg a checkpoint established at Drung Crossing.
“During search, officers were able to recover 109 grams of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains custody,” the police handout reads.
Similarly in Handwara, a police party of PS Handwara arrested a lady drug peddler and recovered 25 grams of Brown Sugar and cash amount of Rs 1,04,300 from her possession, believed to be proceeds of drug sale.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective Police Stations and investigation have been initiated, the handout reads.
Police have urged the community members to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood.
“Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” the handout reads.
