Solider, civilian injured during Anantnag encounter

Anantnag: A soldier and a civilian were injured in an ongoing encounter that broke out between terrorists and government forces at Gawas village of Karan Verinag area in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said Friday.
An official said that a joint team of police, Army and CRPF after receiving information about the presence of terrorists launched a search operation in the area.
He said that as the joint team of forces intensified searches towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the party, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter
The official said during the exchange of fire, a soldier and a civilian were injured while as the operation was underway in the area.
He identified the injured soldier as Amandeep and the injured civilian as Mukhtar Ahmad Malik, son of Ghulam Mohidin Malik, who has received bullet injury in left thigh.
He further added that both are stable and are undergoing treatment at 92 base hospital Srinagar.
