Police arrests drug peddler in Budgam

Srinagar: Police have arrested a drug peddler in Budgam and recovered contraband substance from his possession, a police spokesman said Wednesday.

The arrest as been made with an efforts to curb the menace of drugs from the society.

The police in a handout said that the police post PP Hardipanzo received a specific information through reliable sources that one person namely Parvez Ahmed Ganie son of Abdul Salaam Ganie resident of Hardulatina Beerwah has indulged in drug peddling and hoarded a huge quantity of narcotic substance in his residential house.

On receipt of this information, a Police party from PS Beerwah and PP Hardipanzo along with concerned Executive Magistrate raided the specific location, it said.

During the search, officers were able to recover 12Kgs of Poppy straw from his residential house.

He has also been arrested and shifted to PS where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, case vide FIR No. 63/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Beerwah and further investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.

It is pertinent to mention here that the arrested drug peddler has been indulged in narcotics smuggling across the district and was changing his modus operandi frequently for commission of illicit trade.
