Jashn e Gurez: Officials reviews arrangements
BANDIPORA: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Bandipora, Waseem Raja Saturday reviewed the arrangements put in place for the upcoming Jashn e Gurez Event.
The meeting discussed various issues and preparations related to the event including issues related to promotion of Gurez as an Adventure tourism hub, development of tourism infrastructure in terms of camp sites and home stays, and promotion of Border Tourism.
It was informed that the District Administration in collaboration with the Tourism department is going to conduct Jashn-e-Gurez in June 2022 to attract tourists towards Gurez.
Speaking on the occasion, the ADC urged the locals including students to act as brand ambassadors of sustainable tourism in Gurez. He asked the concerned to draft a mechanism for regulation of home stays and other necessary measures for prolonged tourist season in Gurez.
He stressed on the active role of tour operators besides pre-event publicity of Jashn e Gurez event for successful conduct of the event and its long run benefits to locals. He also stressed on hand holding of locals regarding various tourism related activities.
The meeting was informed that all the arrangements including conduct of sports events like cricket tournament, volleyball tournament, cycle rally, bike rally, pony race and various other events are put in place for successful conduct of Jashn e Gurez event.
The meeting was attended virtually by SDM Gurez Dr. Mudasir Ahmad, Padma Shree awardee Faisal Ali besides other officers from civil administration and Army.
