Two drug peddlers held in Bandipora: Police

Srinagar: Police in Bandipora in north Kashmir arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession, a police spokesman said.
He said that acting on a specific information regarding movement of drug peddlers in Sumbal area, a police party laid a special checkpoint at Shadipora Sumbal and intercepted a vehicle (Load Carrier) bearing registration number JK15-4269 with two persons on board.
During search, officers were able to recover Charas from their possession. They have been identified as Zakir Hussain Chechi resident of Bazipora Ajas and Irshad Ahmad Rather resident of New Colony Ajas Sumbal. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 59/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Sumbal and further investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.
