DGP sanctions Special Welfare amount for police personnel

Srinagar: With an aim to provide financial succor to the families of the Police personnel/SPOs who have attained martyrdom or have passed away while in service, the Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh has sanctioned rupees 83 Lakh as Special Welfare Relief for NoKs of such deceased Police personnel/ SPOs.
The DGP has also sanctioned an ex-gratia relief of rupees 05 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of Martyr Constable/GD Mukhtar Ahmad Doie of 14th Bn CRPF who attained martyrdom in a terrorist attack, a police spokesman said.
The special welfare relief of rupees 22 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased Police personnel SgCt. Mubark Ahmad, Ct Khurshid Ahmad who have passed away due to illness/road accident while in service. Vide another order of PHQ, rupees 15 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of NoKs of deceased police personal HC Subash Chander who was critically injured due to accidental bullet injury from his service rifle and succumbed to his injuries at JMC hospital Jammu while in service.
Rupees one lakh each has been already paid to NoKs of these deceased police personnel for performing last rites through their concerned units. The Special Welfare Relief is sanctioned out of Contributory Police Welfare Funds.
Similarly rupees 6 lakh each as Special Welfare Relief has been sanctioned in favour of NoKs of deceased SPOs Ali Mohammad Bhat, Shabir Ahmad and Ganesh Lal who have passed away during the course of their engagement in the department.
Rupees 50 thousand was already paid to their families for performing their last rites. The relief is sanctioned out of the Contributory Welfare Fund of SPOs.
Police Headquarters is running many schemes for the welfare of its personnel and their families. There are also schemes for the wards of Police personnel and SPOs. Besides, there are schemes for the NoKs of martyrs, their wards and also for the retired Police personnel and their spouses.
