Cleanliness drive in and around Hokersar continues

SRINAGAR: As part of ongoing ‘Save Hokersar-Save Srinagar’ campaign being held under the banner ‘TAWAZUN’ and launched by the Department of Wildlife Protection J&K Government, Wetlands Division Kashmir, the Chairman National Society for protection of Water resources, Forests and Wetlands, Nazir Benazir today flagged-off a cleanliness drive in and around Hokersar Wetland Conservation Reserve (WCR), here.
Safai-karamcharis of Municipal Committees of Srinagar, Budgam and Narbal, Range Officer, Lakes along with his field staff, Ayesha Parveen, Sarpanch Narbal B, Students of Govt. Degree College, Bemina / Holy Mission School Narbal/Boys Higher Secondary School, Narbal, different N.G.O’s, volunteers, Forest Protection Force personals of K-01/K-03 and representatives of different stake holding departments participated.
During the drive solid waste of about 3 to 4 trucks of load were collected from from Sozeith Bridge to Laweypora/ Sozeith Play ground/ Sozeith Nursery and was then accordingly disposed-off, which involved mass efforts of 200 persons.
Speaking on the occasion, Sajid Farooq, Range Officer, Lakes thanked the participants who pledged to join hands with the department of Wildlife Protection for keeping the “Hokersar Wetland Conservation Reserve” solid waste free.
It is worth mentioning here that this initiative is a joint collaboration of Department of Wildlife Protection J&K Government, Wetlands Division Kashmir with stake holding departments, civil society groups, N.G.O’s and Educational institutions.
