Samoon reviews progress on skill training to women SHGs

SRINAGAR: Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department Dr Asghar Haasan Samoon Thursday chaired a meeting here to review the progress achieved under training of Self Help Groups (SHGs).
While chairing the meeting, Dr Samoon emphasised that proper training and handholding of SHGs is need of the hour to upskill their income level.
He said that imparting training to women SHGs is a priority of the government and serious efforts need to be taken in this regard.
He directed the officers to start imparting of skill training to SHGs members through Polytechnic Colleges and ITIs of Jammu and Kashmir from May 19.
Under the programme 60000 women SHGs will be equipped with skills of all kind of advanced technologies in fashion designing, tailoring, cosmetology, fruit processing and other trades so that they don’t face any hindrance while running their business units.
Dr. Samoon further remarked that Skill Development is emerging as a necessity for the workforce of the present day world as it needs multi-tasking people to deal with the day to day functioning.
