Cleanliness drive launched in and around Hokersar Wetland

SRINAGAR: As part of ongoing campaign ‘Save Hokersar-Save Srinagar’ under the banner ‘TAWAZUN’ launched by the Department of Wildlife Protection J&K Government, Wetlands Division Kashmir, the Wildlife Warden, Wetlands Division Kashmir, Ifshan Dewan Monday launched a cleanliness drive in and around Hokersar Wetland Conservation Reserve, here.
Nehru Yuva Kendra Budgam, Safai-karamcharis of Municipal Committees of Srinagar and Budgam districts, Range Officer, Lakes along with his field staff, Students of Women’s College/Doon International School/Boys Higher Secondary School-Laweypora, different N.G.O’s, volunteers, Panchayat members, Forest Protection Force personals of K-01/K-03 and representatives of different stake holding departments participated.
During the drive solid waste of about 3 to 4 trucks of load were collected from Ali Abad Gund-Hassi Bhat/ Graveyard Laweypora/ Soibugh near Police Station/ Daharmuna Diversion bund and were accordingly disposed off, which involved mass efforts of 250 persons.
Speaking on the occasion, Ifshan Dewan thanked the participants and appealed all the stakeholders especially senior citizens, Youth, students of schools/colleges and to those who are directly or indirectly connected with Wetlands to join hands with the department of Wildlife Protection for maintaining cleanliness of the Hokersar Wetland Conservation Reserve.
It is worth mentioning here that this initiative is a joint collaboration of Department of Wildlife Protection J&K Government, Wetlands Division Kashmir with stake holding departments, civil society groups, N.G.O’s and Educational institutions.
