Block Diwas: DC listens to public at Kamad in south Kashmir

ANANTNAG: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Piyush Singla listened to the public for their issues, grievances and demands during the weekly public interaction programme held at Panchayat Halqa Kamad of the district.
BDC Chairman Anantnag, CPO, ACD, BMO, Tehsildar, BDO as well as representatives of other line departments were present on the occasion.
Dr Singla said that Block Diwas, owing to its effectiveness and popularity among the public, has become an integral part of citizen centric governance. He said that while reviewing the effectiveness and penetration of the previous block diwas, it is apparent that grievance redressal has been taken to the doorsteps of people and redressal is time bound.
He said that porosity in the public government interface accentuates the accountability in the system. He appreciated the role played by PRIs in making this initiative effective and for ensuring wide coverage by holding grievance redressal camps in all areas of the district.
Several delegations put forth grievances related to water supply in the area, upgradation of Health S/C, upgradation of electric infrastructure, flood protection bunds, among others. Representatives of concerned departments addressed the grievances.
The DC conducted an extensive tour of the area and inaugurated several recently completed development projects including Health Cum Wellness Centre, Passenger Shelter, Patwar Khana and Tile Path.
He said that as part of the 100 points programme, efforts are being made to operationalise Panchayat Secretariats in every panchayat/ patwar halqa. He said that various camps are also being organised to achieve saturation in various welfare schemes.
