JK reports 17 fresh covid-19 cases

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir logged 17 fresh covid-19 cases while there was no death due to the virus during the past 24 hours, officials said on Wednesday.
They said eight of the fresh cases were reported from Jammu Division and nine from Kashmir Valley, taking the overall tally to 453493.
Giving district wise details, the officials said that Srinagar reported 8 cases, Baramulla 0, Budgam 1, Pulwama 0, Kupwara 0, Anantnag 0, Bandipora 0, Ganderbal 0, Kulgam 0, Shopian 0, Jammu 6, Udhampur 0, Rajouri 0, Doda 2, Kathua 0, Samba 0, Kishtwar 0, Poonch 0, Ramban 1 and Reasi 0.
There was no death reported in the last 24 hours, they said. So far 4750 persons have succumbed to the virus—2327 in Jammu and 2423 in Kashmir.
Besides, they said, 39 Covid-19 patients—22 from Jammu and 17 from Valley— recovered during the time. So far 448580 people have recovered, leaving the active case tally at 163— 57 in Jammu and 106 in Kashmir.
They said there was no new confirmed case of mucormycosis (black fungus) reported today. So far 51 black fungus cases have been confirmed in J&K, the officials said. They also informed that 19809 doses of covid-19 vaccine were administered during the time in J&K.

Jammu: Jammu, the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday recorded the hottest day of the season at 35 degrees Celsius nine notches above the normal for this part of the season, an official said.
The summer capital Srinagar also recorded a high of 25.4 degrees Celsius which is 10.7 degrees above the normal, a spokesperson of the Meteorological department said.
The official said Katra, the base camp for the pilgrims visiting Vaishno Devi shrine, was reeling at a maximum of 32.6 degrees Celsius.
He said the town in Reasi district recorded the minimum temperature of 18.2 degrees Celsius, which was the highest in any recorded place in the Union Territory.
The minimum temperature in Jammu was recorded at 16.8 degrees Celsius, 2.8 notches above normal, while Banihal town in Ramban district recorded a low of 14.2 degrees Celsius which was 10 degrees above normal.
Srinagar recorded a minimum of 7.9 degrees Celsius, which was 3.7 notches above the normal.
Bhaderwah town in Doda district recorded a maximum of 30.4 degrees Celsius, surpassing the previous high of 30 degrees Celsius on March 31, 2018.
The rising temperature over the past few days, especially in the snow-bound areas of Jammu and Kashmir, has caused early melting of the snow causing concern among the people, especially the agriculturists who fear water shortage in the coming months.
