Srinagar, March14: National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI) with the support of Nestle India in coordination with National Welfare Forum J&K distributed ration to the 700 street Vendors of Srinagar city as a part of maiden initiative to target about 1000 Street Vendors, a statement issued here said.

This is part of NASVI’s initiative to provide relief to the street vendors who have been struggling to make a comeback since the onset of covid-19 pandemic. An initiative undertaken solely for the benefit of the street vendors of the city.

Like the rest of the country, the street vendors suffered financial loss due to the economic lockdown set to arrest the novel coronavirus. Uncertainty looms over the lives of our street vendors and this was exacerbated by the pandemic. The ration distribution drive will benefit 1000 street vendors of Srinagar and their families.

Rouf Tramboo of National Welfare Forum while briefing the media said that such initiative shall cover other districts Jammu & Kashmir to support the street vendors who have been badly hit by the pandemic.

Nasir Sofi President Street Vendour Association Batmaloo thanked the NASVI and National Welfare Forum for holding such a mega Relief Initiative for the Street Vendors.
