Railway cop escapes militant attack
Srinagar: Militants on Saturday fired upon a railway policeman in Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, official sources said.
They said while the policeman escaped unscathed, police and security forces cordoned off Dogripora village of the Awantipora amid reports that militants went inside the village.
As per CCTV footage of the incident, a militant brought out a weapon from Pheran and fired indiscriminately as soon as the railway cop enters a tea stall. Thereafter he runs away. After some time, a number of people come out of the tea stall.
A police officer said that railway policeman is “safe”. “After attack, militants went inside Dogripora village. The village has been cordoned off and searches are underway,” the officer added. (GNS)
