Curb dowry demands
It is commendable that Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has joined the anti-dowry awareness campaign and is willing to volunteer with non-government organisations.
As a result of dowry, many married women across the country are subjected to physical and emotional harassment. Dowry is unquestionably a societal scourge and a source of great concern for us.
For women fighting dowry, there are numerous legal provisions and support groups accessible. Local authorities, the media, and NGOs should raise awareness in society to curb the dowry demands. The trend of taking and offering dowry must be discouraged. This is the need of the hour.
