CRPF trooper, minor boy killed in militant attack

Anantnag: Suspected militants on Friday attacked a security forces patrol party in Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district killing a CRPF man and a minor boy.
An official said that militants opened fire on 90 BN CRPF party near Padshahi Bagh, Bijbehara in Anantnag district in which one CRPF man and a minor boy was injured.
He said that injured persons were shifted to SDH Bijbehara for treatment where CRPF man succumbed to injuries and the minor boy also breathed his last after doctors tried their best to save him.
CRPF’s spokesman for operations, Junaid Khan confirmed that an attack took place at Bijbehera on the security forces. “We lost a CRPF man. A minor boy who was injured, also succumbed,” he said.
Hospital sources confirmed that a CRPF man and a minor boy succumbed to their injuries at the SDH Bibehara. The slain boy has been identified as Maheem of Yaripora, Kulgam and the CRPF man has been identified as Samal Kumar.
Block Medical Officer (BMO) SDH Bijbehara Dr Muhammad Iqbal confirmed that a CRPF man and a minor boy succumbed at the hospital, soon after they were brought there.
Police sources said that the area was condoned off to nab the attackers.
Meanwhile, J&K police claimed to have identified the militant involved in the Bijbehara firing. In its tweet, police said: “#Police has identified #killer of minor boy and CRPF personnel. Zahid Daas , a #terrorist of JKIS outfit, is found to be involved in today’s attack at #Bijbehara. Police has registered FIR against him by name.” (KNO)
