Eid-ul-Azha arrangements reviewed at Bandipora

BANDIPORA: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza Friday chaired a meeting of officers to review the arrangements being put in place by the district administration for the smooth celebration of ensuing Eid-ul-Azha.
The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Rahul Malik, Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Chief Medical Officer Bandipora Dr Tajamul, designated Officer Food Safety Bandipora, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Bandipora, members of Traders Federation Bandipora and other senior officers of the district.
The meeting held threadbare discussion to ensure maximum facilities to the people. The meeting discussed various arrangements put in place by the district administration for the convenience of people across the district particularly at Eidgahs, Masjids and shrines where largest congregations are expected to take place.
The DDC directed the concerned officers to ensure the availability of livestock and essential commodities including rice, Atta and LPG besides uninterrupted power and water supply, transport arrangements, cleanliness in and around mosques, streets and Eidgahs, medicare facilities and repairs of roads wherever necessary.
Executive Officer Municipal Committee Bandipora, Sumbal and Hajin were directed to launch a sanitation drive in respective Eidgahs and town areas and were also asked to ensure cleanliness and proper sanitation during Eid days. Health department was asked to keep ambulance and paramedical staff available to meet out any exigency.
The DDC also directed the officers to launch joint market checking across the district to check exorbitant rates and ensure hygiene while selling perishable items including bakery and other items. He appealed the traders to cooperate with the administration and ensure that consumers don’t face any problem during Eid celebrations.
Market checking squads comprising of Revenue, police, food supply, food safety, health and LMD Officers will regularly inspect all markets of the district especially town markets for strict implementation of the Essential Commodities Act and other Consumer Acts.
ARTO and police department were asked to arrange traffic and parking of vehicles at Ahamsharif Bandipora and other locations expecting huge gatherings on Eid Prayers.
The DDC directed the officers to ensure the availability of meat and poultry in the market and directed the departments of Fisheries, Animal and Sheep Husbandry departments to keep sufficient stock available at various sale centres at Bandipora, Sumbal and Hajin.
They were directed to keep the availability of mobile vans at various places of the district which will provide chicken to the consumers at rates below market price and fisheries department was directed to ensure availability of fishes in different markets of the district.
