Four LeT militants killed, three army men injured in Lassipora encounter

Srinagar: Four LeT militants were killed after a gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Lassipora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday.

A senior Police official said that a joint team of 55 RR, SOG and CRPF conducted cordon at Lassipora area of Pulwama. The cordon was launched following specific inputs about the presence of some militants, police sources said.

As such the joint team of forces intensified the searches and fired some warning shots towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants too opened fire triggering off a gunfight, they said.

During the gunfight four militants belonging to LeT were reported to be killed. The encounter also left three army men injured who have been shifted to army hospital for treatment.

Police said that the identity of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained.
