Militants escaped after brief shootout in Kreeri village in Baramulla
Baramulla: Militants have reportedly managed to escape from the encounter site in Kalantara Kandi Kreeri village of Baramulla in North Kashmir taking the cover of darkness. The area had witnessed a brief shootout on Wednesday evening.
Official sources said that 29 RR, SOG Kreeri, CRPF and Police started a Cordon and Search operation in Kalantara Kandi village following an inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
After the 9 hours long CASO hiding militants opened fire on joint party which triggered a brief shootout.
Sources said that no firing has been heard from past 20 hours now and it is likely that the militants have managed to escape.
Police officials also confirmed that they have started fresh searches in the area and there was no further contact with militants in the area.
Police officials said that had suspended the operation during the night due to extreme darkness and bad weather condition in the area. (with inputs from KNO)
