Seven cases of swine flu reported in Srinagar hospitals
One patient is critical while as six are being treated, say authorities
Srinagar: With temperatures dipping down and chilly conditions prevailing in the Valley, at least six cases of swine flu have been reported at SHMS and SKIMS hospitals here, however, authorities are terming the situation under control saying that the patients are being treated.
There are three patients currently admitted at SHMS, while one is said to be critical and has been put in the isolation ward that has been created at the hospital.
Earlier, there were reports that the few others had tested positive for the swine flu and were admitted at the SHMS, hospital however, there was no official confirmation of the same.
Pertinently, on Tuesday, Medical Superintendent, SHMS DrSaleemTak confirmed the cases and said “three patients tested positive and are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital, among the three one is critical,” he said.
He said that strict quarantine measures are being taken at the hospital and the directives on the same lines have been passed down to the medical staff.
“The patients have been put in the isolation and strict measures are being taken at the hospital to prevent others from catching the infection; the medical staff has been directed, and is taking due precautions while dealing with such patients,” Tak said. Meanwhile, SKIMS is also treating three patients who have tested positive for swine flu, with reportedly seven deaths reported so far at SKIMS since December last year.
Medical Superintendent, SKIMS DrFarooq Jan told ‘Kashmir Vision’ that currently there are three patients undergoing treatment at SKIMS, who earlier tested positive for swine flu.
“Three tested positive for swine flu and are currently undergoing treatment at SKIMS,” Dr Jan said, while adding that all the three patients were ‘stable.’
The total number of those who tested positive for swine flu, is six—three at SHMS and three at SKIMS, while one among seven, at SMHS, being critical and is suffering from chronic lung disease.
