New Delhi: As many as 838 militants and 183 civilians were killed in Jammu and Kashmir since 2014, the LokSabha was informed Tuesday.
Union Minister of State for Home HansrajAhir said since 2014 till December 31 last year there were 1,213 incidents involving militants in Jammu and Kashmir.
“In these incidents, 183 civilians lost their lives and 838 militants were killed,” he said replying a written question.
Ahir said during this period, six incidents involving militants were reported from other parts of the country in which 11 civilians lost their lives and seven militants were also killed
Meanwhile, in another reply to a separate question Union Minister of State for Home KirenRijiju said that a total of 316 personnel from paramilitary forces were killed during operations in various parts of the country since 2014.
During the Question Hour, Rijiju said 61 paramilitary personnel were killed in 2018, 70 in 2017, 71 in 2016, 43 in 2015 and 71 in 2014.
The paramilitary personnel killed between 2014 and 2018 belonged to the Central Reserve Police Force, Border Security Force, Central Industrial Security Force, SashastraSeemaBal, Indo-Tibetan Border Police and Assam Rifles, the minister said. (PTI)
