Shortage of doctors triggers protests in Sopore

Sopore: Scores of residents including women patients of north Kashmir’s Sopore area are up in arms against the shortage of doctors at the ‘Mother and Child Hospital Sopore’.

Reports said that patients staged a protest at Iqbal market Sopore against the non availability of doctors.

They said that the concern authorities are not paying any heed towards the needs of the people in this north Kashmir township.

The residents including men and women took to roads and raised slogans against the government for not deputing the required Gynecologist doctors to MCH hospital.

 “We are forced to go to Srinagar and Baramulla hospitals for treatment in the absence of doctors at MCH Sopore,” locals alleged.

They said that the government is not ensuring smooth functioning of the MCH as there is no accountability as very few doctors are catering to the needs of the entire population, said a patient, Saleema Begum.

When contract BMO Sopore Dr. Samiullah, said that out of three gynecologists two are on leave and other one is busy in managing the theater.

He said that the administration will try to get the services of another doctor.
