Srinagar City to witness power breakdown today
Srinagar: Srinagar city may witness a few hours of power breakdown on Tuesday as the Power Development Department (PDD) is working to connect the Wanpoh power grid in south Kashmir.
The grid has developed a major snag in the November 2 snowfall, plunging the entire south Kashmir into darkness for almost a week.
Notably, on Monday civil lines area in Srinagar city plunged into darkness after the power supply was snapped by the authorities.
PDD, Chief Engineer Kashmir Hashmat Qazi said power had to be snapped to connect the Wunpoh power grid damaged last month with the main city.
Qazi said, “the power supply was snapped to connect main city with the Wunpoh power grid station which was repaired after it suffered damages last month. The power supply could be snapped for few hours tomorrow also,” he said.
The Chief Engineer said that power supply was restored for the evening hours to ensure the availability of power to the people during night.
