Sopore: A complete shutdown was observed for the third consecutive day in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday to mourn the death of a local LeT militant, Mehraj-ud-din.
Mehraj-ud-din Khan @Maaroof and Kaleemullah, son of Mushtaq Ahmad of new colony Sopore was killed along with a top commander Naveed Jatt in a gunfight in Chattergam area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday.
All the shops and other business establishments continued to remain closed in the town while as public transport was also off the roads.
However a thin movement of private transport was plying on the roads in the town.
Meanwhile, on early morning, scores of youth appeared at different places of town and pelted stones on vehicles coming from other adjoining areas to impose shutdown in the town.
