KU fails to conduct graduate level exams on time
Students allege inordinate delays are wasting their precious time
Srinagar: The authorities in Kashmir University (KU) have failed to streamline the examination system for undergraduate courses post introduction of the semester system exams in the colleges.
Notably, the KU examination department has a huge liability of exams of under graduate courses which is now telling upon the career of hundreds of outgoing college students.
Hundreds of the students who were enrolled in the colleges in 2015 have complained that the varsity was yet to conduct the exams of their backlog subjects. They said their 5th and 6th semester (final year) results were declared in September this year but they are yet to clear the previous exams due to delay adopted by the varsity in holding exams for backlog subjects.
“KU authorities wasted our one year by extending our graduation to four years and now they are not conducting exams of backlog subjects which will further delay our degree and waste one more year,” said Basit, a student from Srinagar.
He said the result of first semester backlog result was declared in 2017 but the KU administration is yet to conduct the backlog exams of other semesters.
“Even after a passage of more than one year, KU authorities have failed to schedule exams of other semesters,” he said.
The students urged the varsity administration to conduct all backlog exams as early as possible stating that further delay can ruin their career.
“The sluggishness of the university will have adverse impact on our career,” the students said.
Controller examination Kashmir University (KU), Prof. Farooq Ahmad Mir said they are giving in efforts to streamline the pending exams and will declare all the pending results as early as possible.
“I have joined the varsity just a month ago and I am trying my best to set things right. Students are our top priority,” he said.
He said the backlog exams of undergraduate as well as PG students will be conducted after taking a review of all pending exams.
“We are trying our best to clear the pending liability of exams and try to set students free so that they can pursue their careers,” he said.
