In two days, militants kill as many civilians in South Kashmir
Srinagar: A day after killing a civilian in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on charges of being an Army informer, militants Saturday abducted and killed a 19-year-old in Shopian, police said.
“MilitantsSaturday killed a civilian in Shopian district after he was kidnapped earlier in the day from Saidpora area,” a police official said.
He said a throat-slit body was found from an orchard area in Hermain village of the south Kashmir district.
The deceased has been identified as Huzaif Ashraf (19), a resident of Manzgam area of the neighbouring Kulgam district.
“Huzaif’s body was handed over to his family after completion of the medico-legal formalities,” the official said.
He said a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation has been initiated in the matter.
Notably, unidentified gunmen on Saturday kidnapped three civilians from a village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
A police official said that unknown gunmen on Saturday morning abducted three civilians from SaidporaPayeen village of the district.
The official identified the abductees as Shahid Ahmad Ganie, Farooq Ahmad – both residents of SaidporaPayeen and Huzaif Ahmad Kutay of Manzgam.
They, according to the official, were abducted from a bakery shop.
Later during the day, Shahid Ahmad Ganie, Farooq Ahmad – both residents of SaidporaPayeen were released by the abductors. Reports said that both Shahid and Farooq arrived at their respective houses safely.
Sources added that unidentified gunmen abducted two more youth from Meemandar area of Shopian village, however, officials refuted these reports saying no such abductions took place in Meemandar village.
Reports said that after Huzaif Ahmad Kutay of Manzgam Shopian was kidnapped his family made a vehement appeal to suspected militants requesting them to release him without any harm.
“If he has done something wrong, we tender apology on his behalf,” said a relative of HuzaifKutay.
Notably, the body of Huzaif was later in the evening found in an orchard. Police team visited the spot and took possession of the body, sources said.
Pertinently, Nadeem Manzoor of Safnagri village of the district was shot dead following his abduction on Thursday night. His bullet ridden body was recovered from adjoining Pulwama district.
A video showing militants pumping bullets into his body is already viral on social media.
