Pulwama: The residents of Litter Tehsil of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday staged a protest against Power Development Department (PDD) for failing to restore electricity to their area.
Inhabitants including men and women blocked the vehicular movement on Pulwama -Litter road for more than one hour to press for their demands about the restoration of electricity in their area.
Mohammad Abdullah Mallah, a local Auqaf president said that the supply lines, which were damaged due to snowfall, were rectified by locals before six days but PDD has utterly failed to restore electricity till date, thus leaving them to lurch at large.
He said that the statements given by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama that they have restored power supply in 95 % areas of the district are far away from the truth as even the Tehsil headquarter is without electricity.
“We are being forced to hit the streets as repeated pleas to PDD and other concerned authorities went unheard,” he said.
Meanwhile, a PDD official said that power supply in the area has been restored on Thursday evening.
