Chief Horticulture Officer Bla tours snowfall affected orchards

Sopore: Chief Horticulture Officer Baramulla, Farooq Ahmad Tantray along with field staff of the department including ACR Baramulla and Tehsildar Thursday visited the affected orchards of Sangrama and Rafiabad constituencies to assess the damage to orchards, trees and crops for compensation.
The damages in orchards, trees and crops occurred due to recent snowfall in the Valley.
During the visit, various public and fruit grower deputations met the officers and apprised them about damages to orchards.
Chief Horticulture Officer Baramulla assured them that he would submit the damage assessment report to DC and Director of Horticulture at an earliest in order they will seek all possible help from higher authorities for early compensation to the affected growers.
Talking to media persons, Chief Horticulture Officer said that during his visit of two constituencies Sangrama and Rafiabad in north Kashmir they assessed that the orchadists have suffered a loss of at least Rs two Crore.
“We will submit the damage assessment to our higher authorities for early compensation,” he said.
