Pulwama youth arrested in Handwara along with weapons: Police

Srinagar: Police on Friday claimed to have arrested a militant of Al-Badr Mujahideen outfit in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police North Kashmir, Atul Kumar Goel said that a check point was established at Chutipora area of Handwara on Friday morning following credible inputs about the movement of militants in the area.
During the checking, a vehicle was searched and one suspected was apprehended, DIG said, adding that during frisking one Chinese pistol and two hand grenades were recovered from his possession.
After investigation into the case police has been able to identify the arrested youth as Sajad Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Hamid Dar, a resident of Bungam, Rahmoo village in southern Pulwama district.
“Sajad had joined Al-Badr militant outfit on October 3 last month,” DIG said.
A case has been registered and further investigations initiated in this matter, DIG added.
Pertinently, Sajad, a first-year student of Bachelors in Lab Technician at college in New Delhi, had gone missing since October 3 and later his family lodged a missing report in the concerned police station.
