Grenade blast leaves army officer, eight soldiers injured

Srinagar: An accidental grenade blast left an army officer besides eight soldiers injured in north Kashmir’s RajwarHandwara area, defence sources said.
They said that an army domination party of 21 RR led by an officer Major Surab Suman while passing through the woods of Nagranad area Zatchaldara, Rajwar were injured after a blast occurred in the area.
Police sources, however, said that the blast was caused by a grenade which exploded accidentally while the army officer was giving a demonstration to the soldiers in the woods.
“The blast left the major and eight soldiers injured as several soldiers have recieved critical injuries,” they said.
All the injured were taken to military hospital Drugmulla where from two seriously wounded including the army major have been referred to army’s 92 base hospital for specialized treatment.
An army official also confirmed that four soldiers received injuries and said that the details of the nature of blast are being ascertained. (GNS)
