Docs, paramedics to wear black bands on Monday

Srinagar: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Saturday expressed its resentment over ‘inaction’ of Governor Satya Pal Malik led administration for not taking any action against Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) Reasi, who according to them has not only ‘misbehaved’ with senior orthopedician, but ‘detained him illegally’ by misusing the power of chair.
“The whole doctor community of J&K is deeply anguished and pained by abnormally abnormal the behavior of DC Reasi and stand united with victimized doctor,” DAK said in a statement issued here.
“For last decades, we are fighting against all those unscrupulous elements and rowdies of society who are assaulting and harassing doctors, in turmoil hit state. Therefore it is very shocking that now, we have to face psychotic, schizophrenic and inappropriate behavior from administrative officers in Governor led government, who seem to be patients of power arrogance,” DAK said.
“It is extremely painful that eccentric behaviour of such responsible officials has demoralized and dispirited our noble profession and is one of the main reasons that large number of our astute specialists and super specialists are leaving this state,” the statement added.
“The callous and insensitive attitude of state government to initiate requisite administrative action under prescribed civil service rules (CSR) against Deputy Development Commissioner Reasi for his misbehavior, illegal detention and abuse of power is unfortunate and shocking,” DAK said.
President DAK, Dr Suhail Naik showed his utmost displeasure over the silence of govt towards this sensitive issue. “We expect government authorities will respond to our plea soon and an appropriate action under law of land will be taken against erring officer.”
General Secretary DAK, Dr Owais H Dar stressed that “we are in touch with our counter parts at Jammu and have full solidarity with the striking doctors. In case, if no progress is made and said official is not booked under relevant laws, we will be constrained to escalate our protests and go for indefinite strike also.”
Senior vice president, Dr Ashraf assured striking doctors that “we must stand united at this critical juncture” and appealed all the doctors and paramedics of Kashmir and Ladakh to wear black bands on Monday, 29-10-2018 as mode of silent protest.
