Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani on Saturday said that India is suffering from ‘arrogance of power and is using an imperialistic attitude’ in Jammu and Kashmir to crush our movement of right to self-determination.

According to the statement issued here, Geelani said that “since 1947 our nation has rendered unparalleled sacrifices, thousands were caged and brutally tortured, properties worth billions razed to ground and looted, and sexual assault and rape used as war weapon. But India has not been able to suppress our emotions with this brutality.”

Paying tributes to slain Pulwama militant, Geelani while addressing mourners via telephone said “our youth lay their lives to end the age-old slavery of their nation and for right to self-determination and reiterated his pledge to take the ongoing movement to its logical end. We will never allow any body to barter with the precious blood of martyrs. We need to be aware of this and we are duty bound to safe guard their sacrifices and should desist from such activities which prove harmful for our movement.”

“India is suffering from arrogance of power and has tried its best to muzzle our voice—but has utterly failed to do so, and no power on earth particularly the Indian might, its brutality can never deter us from our much cherished goal of right to self-determination,” he said.

Stressing upon people in general and youth in particular, Geelani said that “we need to strengthen our faith and as a nation we need to the optimistic and by the grace of Almighty Allah the Indian brute force will come to an end and we will Insha Allah get rid of this forceful military occupation.”

Meanwhile, Geelani said that slapping a sedition case against two Kashmiri students of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is ‘inhuman and unjustified’.

While condemning on the reports of booking the Kashmiri students, Geelani said that offering Nimaz-e-Jinaza in absentia for a person who was a brilliant student of this institution is no way a crime to be punished for.

He said that “after miserably failing to curb the ongoing movement, rulers are harassing and crushing every sane voice for the oppressed people. Those claiming to be champions of freedom of expression forget their own rhetoric when it comes to Muslims and Kashmiries.”

“Brutality in Kashmir by men in uniform have reached the highest zenith and the painful cries and sobs when heard, melts even the stone hearted persons not only in India but abroad as well, which forces a soft and sympathetic reaction for these unfortunate victims of this tyranny, but biased and myopic mindset cannot tolerate this. They roar in the ego of a military biggy to crush these sentiments by using their muscle and might,” he said.

He warned rulers in Delhi that how many voices can you stop, how many minds you will put behind bars and how many freedom loving people will you crush to death. “Freedom movements never die down by these cowardly acts and as soon as you accept the reality, whole humanity including the egoistic rulers will have a sigh of relief,” he said.
