16 cases registered against forces, police: CM

Jammu: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday said that 16 cases have been registered against the security forces including Jammu and Kashmir Police for excessive use of force in the state over the past three years.

Responding to a question raised by independent MLA Er Abdul Rashid raised during the question hour of the ongoing budget session here she said that out of 16 cases, 14 cases are under investigation, one case is under trial wherein two police personnel are involved in case FIR number 35/2015 of police station Magam Budgam are facing departmental action. They are presently under suspension, she said.

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti who holds the charge of Home department further informed the House that one case under FIR number 156 of 2016 in Police station Pampore has been challaned. “The case is under process for sanction of prosecution against the accused persons,” she said.

In a separate query raised by MLA Ishfaq Jabbar, the Chief Minister in her written reply told the House that one FIR has been lodged against security forces in district Pulwama on account of damage to civilian property.
