Kashmir World Film Festival: ACT organizes film making workshop at Tagore Hall

The Actors Creative Theatre (ACT), a non-profit organization, on the second day of ‘Kashmir World Film Festival’ (KWFF) organized a workshop on film making at Tagore Hall here.

The workshop was conducted by National Business Head – Cinema & Broadcasting Products Division, Canon India, Gaurav Markan.

Students from Media Education Research Centre (MERC), University of Kashmir, Journalism students from Central University of Kashmir, and movie lovers all across the spectrum were among the participants.

While interacting with the audience, Gaurav said that Kashmir has always been depicted by the media negatively.

“Now, I think this land should produce such a film makers who will represent the actual situation of Kashmir,” he said.

Besides the workshop, the organizers this afternoon screened fours films for the audience. The films include Waenji Gaash directed by Yuaish Firdous, Kashmir Daily directed by Hussein Khan, The Bitter Truth by Ab Rashid Bhat and Guide by Vijay Anand.

Around twenty five films will be screened in several languages that include Hindi, Urdu, English, Kashmiri, Bengali, Bhojpuri and Spanish.

Chairman ACT Mushtaaque Ahmad Khan said that holding such kind of sessions will boost the talent of young film makers here.

“Kashmir is full of talent and it needs to be nourished which will definitely help them to grow more,” Khan said. 

The festival is first of its kind where the international movies will also be screened.

The five day film festival that began on Saturday will conclude on 5th July.
