Two people held, another accused identified in police officer’s lynching: DGP SP Vaid
Director General of Police, Dy SP Vaid today said two people have been arrested in connection with lynching of a senior police officer last night outside Jama Masjid in Srinagar.
DySP Mohammed Ayub Pandith of Security Wing was attacked and beaten to death by a mob outside Jama Masjid in Nowhatta last night during Shab-e-Qadr, police said here.
“Two people have been arrested, third person identified. They will have to face the law,” the DGP said on the sidelines of a wreath laying ceremony of slain officer here at district police lines today. Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti was also present during wreath laying ceremony.
