CUK celebrates International Yoga Day at G’bl

The Department of Students Welfare (DSW) Central University of Kashmir (CUK) in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Government College of Physical Education celebrated 3rd International Yoga Day here on Wednesday.

The students from various departments of the University participated in the event. Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Kashmir, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir, Registrar, Prof. Mohammad Afzal Zargar, Dean Students Welfare, Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Nikka, Coordinator Innovations Dr. John K Babu, and Principal Government College of Physical Education Ganderbal Kashmir Dr. Hartej Singh and other faculty members of the college joined the students on the occasion. The students of both the institutions performed different Yoga Asnas shown by the trainer during the event.

Vice -Chancellor while interacting with the students of both the institutions emphasized the importance and significance of Yoga and other physical exercises in fitness of individuals. Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir said, “Physical exercise is imperative for leading a healthy life,” Prof. Mehraj ud Din said after witnessing the Yoga Asnas performed by the students.

Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar also highlighted the advantages and benefits of Yoga and all other traditional activities in physical and mental development of the person. He stressed the need of performing physical exercises for maintaining good health.

Dean, Students Welfare, Dr. Fayaz A Nikka underscored the importance of Yoga in strengthening the physical and mental capacities and capabilities of the human beings.
