Srinagar: Following an appeal from his parents, one more youth (a teenager) who had reportedly joined militant ranks has returned home in South Kashmir.

According to the reports, Nasir Dar of Summar Damhal Hanji Pora has been handed over to the police by his family, a source said. However, as per the police records, there is no mention of him joining any militant outfit.

A police source said that there is no record of him joining the militant organization but ‘things are being probed’. Dar is currently in the custody of police in Damhal Hanjipora.

“Responding to the appeal of parents one more youth who had joined militants returns home in South Kashmir,” Jammu and Kashmir police tweeted later in the day.

Reacting to the news director general of Police SP Vaid said that it is a ‘great news’.

“On my visit to Kulgam I was told another local militant has come back home in response to appeal of his mother and other family members. “Great news!” Vaid said.

Meanwhile, the trend of militants returning to their homes in South Kashmir is gaining ground after footballer Majid Khan, who had joined militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba, surrendered barely a week after he joined the outfit.

The relentless campaign was launched on social media for return following the appeal of his parents. He surrendered before army last week.

A video of the family of Ashiq Hussain Bhat son of Mohammad Ishaq Bhat @ Abu Maaz from Rakipora Kaprin Shopian is doing rounds on social media in which the parents and wife of the Lashkar-e-Toiba militant are seen crying and pleading him to return to his family.

“We have no other support other than him and we are dying,” his father is seen saying in the video.

“I appeal that my son should return home. He was a laborer and feeding us. I will lock this house and poison the entire family if he doesn’t return,” mother of Bhat says.

In the video, his wife is seen saying that her life has been ruined and that she wants her husband to come back.

“We have no support except him. I only want him to come back.”

Ashiq had recently joined militant ranks of Lashker-i-Toiba. According to the reports, Ashiq joined militant ranks a week ago after his photo went viral on internet flaunting a rifle.

In another video doing rounds on internet, the family of Manzoor Ahmad has made a public appeal to the militant groups pleading them to allow their son to return home.

“If  he is with any organisation, please for God’s sake, let him go. I’m shattered. My kids haven’t eaten in days and they will die like this. I have no other support other than Manzoor,” Jawahira, a resident of Drabgama village in Pulwama district said.

Twenty-year-old Manzoor, according to sources, had joined a militant outfit more than two weeks ago. Now, the family’s only hope is to have a Majid-like family reunion.
