Mega job fair inaugurated

Udhampur: District Employment and Counselling Centre, Friday organized a one-day mega job fair at Town Hall here. MLA, Pawan Kumar Gupta, inaugurated the mela.

The MLA asked the officers of various departments to organize awareness programmes for unemployed youth on regular intervals so that they can avail benefit of self-employment schemes and welfare programmes of the government.  He informed that Udhampur is the largest district in the state in terms of production of cocoon. He interacted with the job provider companies as well as students of various educational institutions.

Different government departments like Agriculture, Health, Handicraft, Handloom, National Livelihood Mission (NULM), Fisheries, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry and Sericulture had set up their stalls for creating awareness on various self-employment schemes.

Later, the MLA inspected various departmental stalls installed by companies like Devika Hyundai, J&K Vehicleades Pvt Ltd., Bajaj Allianz Insurance Co Ltd., LIC, Brahm Rishi Bawra Shanti Vidya Peeth, IL&FS, Quess Corp Ltd and TNS.

ADC, Krishan Lal Sharma said the main objective of this job fair is to generate employment opportunity for the un-employed youth by providing them multiple job options. 

Assistant Director, District Employment & Counselling Centre, Bhumika Sharma briefed about the job fair. She informed that the job fair is an initiative under National Career Service (NCS) programme, which brings together all stakeholders like job seekers, employers, counsellors, trainers and private placement agencies.

She further said that around 10 private companies are participating in this fair and offering at least 150 vacancies for the unemployed youth of Udhampur.
