Kashmir women’s Cricket Championship Culminates

The first ever Divisional Level Women’s Cricket Championship organised by Jammu and Kashmir Women’s Cricket Association in collaboration with Ganderbal based 5-Rashtriya Rifles concluded here today at J&K Sainik School, Manasbal.

Anantnag beat Srinagar to lift the final titled. The match was decided in Super over after both teams could manage to score 101 runs during the match. In Super over, Srinagar could only score 6 runs and was easily chased by the Anantnag.

On the final match and presentation ceremony, MLA Ganderbal was the Chief Guest, while as Principal Govt College of Physical Education, Dr. Hartej Singh attended the function as the Guest of Honour. Other dignitaries and hosts CO 5RR, Col M Gururaj, president JKWCA Gulshan Ara,  Vice president Dr. Basharat Ali, other office bearers were also present on the occasion.

First of its kind, the championship witnessed participation of 12 teams from various districts of the valley. The championship which was the first major platform of the JKWCA, well supported by 5RR was inaugurated on October 12 by GOC Victor Force, Maj Gen BS Raju.

The dignitaries during the event appreciated the efforts of JKWCA and assured full support and assistance to uplift and encourage women Cricket in the state.
