Jammu: Government on Monday attached Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq, Head of the Department Orthodontics, Government Dental College Srinagar with Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) till further orders.

The move comes following the strike of GDC students who have been demanding immediate termination of Dr Muhammad Mushtaq.

“In the interest of administration, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad HoD Orthodontics Government Dental College Srinagar is hereby attached with the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) till further orders,” the government order vide-number: 192-HME-2018 issued on Monday said.

The order has come after the government ordered an enquiry into the matter, where the students were alleging that the concerned HoD was ‘torturing’ them mentally as well as physically.

Following the order, sources said that the student representatives are scheduled to meet DDC Srinagar on Tuesday and after which they (students) will decide the future course of action whether to end the strike or not.

“Students are meeting DDC Srinagar, and that they will be deciding what to do in future,” sources said.

Notably, DDC Srinagar, Dr Abid Rasheed Shah was appointed as the enquiry officer who submitted the interim report to the government along with the recommendation on Saturday.

Pertinently, the students at GDC are on continuous strike for last 11 days now, demanding immediate removal of Dr Muhammad Mushtaq.
