KV ONLINE, Published date : 12, October 2017

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today met National Conference working president and opposition leader Omar Abdullah to discuss the appointment of state chief vigilance commissioner.

Earlier, according to the reports, the selection panel headed by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had recommended former director general Prisons PL Gupta as chief vigilance commissioner of J&K while the names of former bureaucrat Gazzanfar Hussain and former Indian Forest Service officer, Rajeshwar Singh Jasrotia were finalised as members of the anti-graft body.

The first head of the Vigilance Commission Kuldeep Khoda and two other members RK Jeerath and Gous-un- Nissa Jeelani completed their term earlier this year, leaving the anti-graft body dysfunctional with no one to head the commission.
