Shopian: Clashes erupted between government forces and protestors after forces cordoned off Heff village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Sources said that soon after forces laid a siege to the village, youth took to streets and started pelting stones on forces who retaliated with tear smoke shells triggering clashes in the area.

Earlier forces started a search operation  in the area after receiving specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

Official sources said  that the search operation was launched by 3-RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF jointly.

Sources added that all the entry and exit points in the locality have been sealed.

Pertinently Heff is considered to be the hotbed of militancy and presently three militants including HM commander Saddam Padder from same village are currently active.
