Braid Chopping: First incident reported in Kupwara

In a first of its kind in Kupwara district braid of a woman was chopped off on Wednesday in Awoora Herpora area.

After the incident, 32-year-old lady (Name withheld) felt unconscious and she was later sent to DH kupwara for treatment.

DYSP Headquarters Kupwara Fayaz Geelani said that the incident has been reported from Awoora Kupwara, and police is on the job to trace the culprits and no other damage has been done to the victim.

Another incident of Braid Chopping was reported from Shikhgund area of Braed Aangan in Southern Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) District.

The Braid Choppers cut the hair of a 35 year old married lady in the area after which they fled from the spot.

The Locals raised alarm and are patrolling the streets now, as per the latest reports the locals have foiled two attempts of braid chopping.
