Mourning family yearns to listen to his voice again

Srinagar:  Family of Amir Lone (21) who breathed his last on Sunday at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura is yearning to listen to his ‘sweet’ voice.

This dashing youngster of Central Kashmir’s Kangan area never uttered a word after he sustained injuries in his head, till he closed his eyes forever—only never to speak again.

Son of a labourer, who does a job of repairing shawls, commonly known as Rafugar, was ambitious enough, with working hard to end the poverty of his family.

After completing his matriculation exams, he opted for Science subjects. But, least did his family know that fate had something else in store for him. He was not even able to see his 22nd birthday.

Amir was the youngest son of his parents, his elder brother too is following the path of his father by working as a Rafugar.

“He was a bright kid and at the same time, a sensitive one. He was out to offer funeral prayers of another youth (Gowhar) who was killed in the area. After the prayers were over, clashes broke out and during that he was injured,” said Showket Ahmad, cousin brother of Amir.

As per family and medical records there were multiple fractures in his head that had caused internal bleeding. Following his referral to SKIMS he was put on the life saving support from the day first, where he finally lost the battle between life and death on Sunday, putting an end to all the vague hopes of his family.

Showkat says that Amir was a dedicated kid, and was currently studying at Govt Degree College, Ganderbal, where he had to join the last semester of his graduation. Amir has been meticulous as a student and dashing as a youngster, but everything faded just in a glimpse.

“Nobody knew that something of this sort was actually going to happen to him, everything was going on so smoothly and out of nowhere a calamity stuck this family,” he said.

What the family is regretting about is that they never got a chance to speak to him before he could close his eyes forever, “he didn’t speak, he was just pointing at this things,” Showkat said.

Amir’s mother too is yearning to listen to the voice of his son, she wails saying “O’ my son, come and speak to me; why didn’t you speak to me, why! I am yearning to listen to your voice.”

Showkat says that all his family members had set their eyes on Amir—to do something big, to do something extraordinary, but what happened has shattered this family forever, “his parents are shattered, they have, as if lost the entire world, there is nothing left for them now,” Showkat says.

The medical records are stating that Amir has endured Extradural Haemorrhage, which is associated with a history of head trauma and frequently associated with skull fracture.

Amir had sustained head injuries during the clashes that broke out in Kangan area after the death of another youth Gowhar Ahmad Rather on April 3.
