The youngest civilian killed was a 14 year old kid
Kulgam: Among the four civilians who were killed during the forces action on Wednesday was Fazil Ahmad Allie, a 14 year old kid. Fazil was a student of class 9th at the Government Higher Secondary School Arwani.
His cousin, Arshid Ahmad said that on Wednesday morning they left Melhoora along with three other boys.
“When we reached near a bridge in Wanpora village forces fired at civilians who were clashing with them, he said, adding that they ran away after forces opened fire but Fazil was left behind and was hit with bullets,” he said.
He said that injured Fazil was shifted to Primary Health Centre Qaimoh in a critical condition and doctors declared him as brought dead. He had bullet injuries on neck and chest.
Ghulam Ahmad Allie, the father of the teenage boy said that he was on a visit to a relative’s house on Tuesday night and on Wednesday when he returned home, a neighbor broke the news of his death to me.
“I was informed by a neighbour that my son was shot dead in Kulgam,” Ahmad said.
He said that before leaving tyhe house in the morning with his friends, Fazil told his mother that he would return home dead.
Fazil is survived by an elder brother, who is a dropout from school and three sisters, two of whom are unmarried.
Meanwhile, thousands of people attended the funeral of Fazil Ahmad Allie. Witnesses said that five back to back rounds of funeral prayers were held for the slain civilian in which thousands of people took part chanting pro-freedom and anti Indian slogans. He was buried at a village graveyard in Melhoora.
Another civilian Aijaz Ahmad Palla son of Muhammad Sikandar, a resident of Tulkhan Bijbehara in South Kashmir also succumbed to injuries.
Witnesses said that Aijaz was hit by a bullet in his head during the ongoing clashes in Khudwani area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam District.

Ironically, another civilians killed during the encounter was identified as Sharjeel Ahmed Sheikh, a Driver from Khudwani area of South Kashmir. Sarjeel, was getting married on Sunday next.
The encounter left another teen age boy Bilal Ahmad Tantray (16) dead. Bilal son of Nazir Ahmad Tantray resident of Kujjar Kulgam was a student of class 12th at Government Higher Secondary School Qaimoh. He was presently residing at his maternal home in Mishpora.
Bilal has a bullet wound on his chest as a result of which he died instantly, said a witness.
He left behind parents and three brothers (two elder and one younger).
